Hellmann’s was founded in 1913 in New York City by a German immigrant named Richard Hellmann. Richard began working in a Delicatessan owned by his wife’s parents. His freshly made mayonaise became a hit with the locals and so he started selling it to other stores. With over 110 years of bringing us sauces, they have found their products all over the globe. Everything started with mayonaise, and it grew from there.

Bottle Inspection

The bottle is a transparent plastic that is very easy to squeeze.

Pourability

This bottle has a twist nozzle style cap. It turns easily, and dispenses even easier. Despite this, the sauce is still thick enough to cling to whatever you put it on.

Smell & Taste

The smell is reminicent of mayo with a bit of spice. When tasting, right away you are hit with a semi sweet creamy flavor, then a quick burn that subsides immediately, and then it comes back in a slow wave that lingers for a while.

Final Thoughts

This sauce is ok, but its not a daily driver by any means. This is a very specific flavor that will not pair with everything. One of the key ingredients in this is egg, and it is evident that is really a more evolved sriracha mayo, especially considering that the peppers are the FIFTH ingredient in this sauce.. It says to try with eggs, burritos and more, but I am having a hard time picturing this flavor on a burrito.
